Local Missions

Meeting the practical and spirituaneeds of people in our local community. As the local church we must begin by serving God and others within our own community. (Acts 1:8) We are accomplishing this through our partnership with The Bridge, Sea Bird Island Church and Hearts of Fire.

Haiti Missions

Our Church’s ministry in Haiti was born out of an adoption of the One Church – One Village philosophy, providing free education for and meeting the practical needs of the children and families of Mirebalais, Haiti. We fulfill our commitment through financial and team involvement.

We support those in our church family who are called and commissioned to the Mission field by church leadership. Please consider partnering with one of our missionaries in prayer and financial support.

At Southside we take seriously the command of Jesus, “Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone, everywhere" (Mark 16:15).

We are a local church – a church for the communities of Sardis and Chilliwack, but according to the Bible every local church is called to reach out beyond themselves, beyond our own communities to take God’s love to the ends of the earth.

Compared to most of the world, we have material wealth beyond imagination. The Bible says that, “If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him? Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth” (1John3:17-18). The Bible also says that, “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and the keep oneself from being polluted by the world” (James 1:27).

God’s word inspires, strengthens and energizes our hearts to reach out in His name to those less fortunate.

God continues to challenge us not to limit our vision to Southside or even to Chilliwack but we must look beyond our geography.  For some of us it will mean changing the way we think and the way we spend our money.  For some it will mean more time spent in prayer.  For others it will include a short-term trip to experience cross-cultural missions first hand.  Some are called to serve and work long-term in different locations around the world.
